Carrier Allocation Rules

We basically define Carrier Allocation Rules to create the shipment via Schedule flow.


Where to set the Rules


Hover on the Settings drop-down, under Carrier Allocation Rules, we have ‘Shipping Rule List’ [Refer Image No:1.1], click on the ‘Shipping Rule List’ option. The ‘Shipping Rule Setting’ page is displayed where we can see the different rules displayed [Refer Image No:1.2]

Types of Shipping Rules

  1. Weight Based Carrier Allocation [Mandatory]: Define rules to allocate a shipping service according to the weight of the orders
  2. Packing Box Allocation: Define rules to select the Packaging box according to the product
  3. Warehouse Allocation: Define rules to auto-allocate the Pickup Warehouse according to the delivery location





Define rules to allocate a shipping service according to the weight of the shipment

  1. Click on ‘Define rules to allocate a shipping service according to the weight of the shipment’ to set the rule to ship the orders based on weight
  2. This is a mandatory rule that needs to be set if the user prefers to ship the orders in the Schedule flow

How to set the rule

  • Rule Name: Enter the name for the identification of the rule under ‘Rule Name’
  • Order Payment type: Choose the type based on the Payment type of the orders which should be shipped as a part of this rule [Refer Image No:2.1]
  • Weight Range: There are 3 types of range i.e., ‘>’ (more than), ‘<’ (lesser than), ‘=’ (equal to). Choose a range based on the weight of the orders that need to be shipped as a part of the rule [Refer Image No:2.2]
  • Weight (In KGs): Enter a weight above or below or equal to [based on weight range] the value of the orders that need to be shipped as a part of the rule
  • Carrier: Select the carrier from the ‘Carriers’ dropdown thru which you want to ship the order with the weight specified in the rule
    [The carriers which are active on the Shipper Accounts page will be displayed here in the dropdown [Refer Image No: 2.3
  • Vendor Description: Choose the account thru which you want to ship the order ‘Vendor Description’ from the dropdown
  • Service: Select the services from the ‘Service’ dropdown thru which the orders matching the rule should be shipped [if COD is chosen as the payment mode only COD services will be displayed and if Pre-Paid is chosen as Order Payment Type then only Pre-Paid services will be displayed]
  • Priority: It is used to prioritize the rule, where the highest priority rule will be considered to ship the Order, check the ‘Activate Rule’ checkbox to enable the rule, and click on the SAVE button to save the rule. 





Define Rules to select Packaging Box according to the product

  1. When the user clicks on the ‘Define Rules to Select Packaging Box according to the product’ link the ‘Product & Box Shipping Rule Setting’ page is displayed [Refer Image No: 3.1]
  2. This rule is used to set the box dimensions for an order based on the items present [it overrides the Default Package Settings]
  3. Default Package Settings will be over-ridden by the rule



How to set the rule 

  • Rule Name: Enter the name for the identification of the rule under ‘Rule Name’
  • Add Product: Click on the link, an ‘Add Products’ popup shows up where we need to enter the item details and click on the SAVE button [Refer Image No 3.4 and Refer Image No 3.2], product dimensions are optional
  • If the order contains a product: From here we can choose the item added under ’Add Product’ [Refer Image No:3.3], if you want to add the new product then click on the ‘Add Product’ link [Refer Image No: 3.4], the ‘Add Products’ pop up will be displayed fill all the credentials on the popup, the added product will be displayed under ‘if the order contains product’ dropdown





  • Then Apply Box Settings: Choose the box dimensions from the ‘Then Apply Box Settings’ dropdown, that need to be applied if an order contains an item selected under ‘If order Contains Products’ [Refer Image No:3.5]
     [Box dimensions saved under Package Settings will be listed under the ‘Then Apply Box Settings‘ drop-down if there is no package saved add one]  




  • Priority: In order to avoid conflict between the rules, add a Priority, check the ‘Activate Rule’ checkbox and click on the SAVE button [Refer Image No:3.6]



  • Scroll the page below the rule will be saved [Refer Image No:3.7]



Define Rules to auto-allocate the Pickup Warehouse according to the delivery location

  1. When the user clicks on ‘Define Rules to auto-allocate the Pickup Warehouse according to the delivery location the ‘Warehouse Setting’ page is displayed [Refer Image No:4.1]
  2. This rule is used in order to set the Sender warehouse to the order based on the destination Pincode, city, state, and country
  3. Default Sender warehouse will be over-ridden by the rule


How to set the rule 

  • Rule Name: Enter the name for the identification of the rule under ‘Rule Name’
  • Choose the Rule Type: Choose the option for which you want to set the rule i.e., ‘by-country’, ‘by-state’, ‘by-cities’, ‘by-pin codes [Refer Image No: 4.2]



  • If the user chooses the ‘by-country’ from the ‘Choose Rule Type’ drop-down, an option to enter the countries will show up where the user can enter the destination country for which they want to set the Sender address [Refer Image No:4.3]




  • If the user chooses the ‘by-state’ option, an option to enter the country and the state will show up where the user can enter the destination country and state for which the user wants to set the Sender address [Refer Image No:4.4]



  • If the user chooses the rule type as ‘by-cities’, an option to enter the city will show up where the user can enter the destination city for which the user wants to set the Sender address [Refer Image No:4.5]



  • If the user chooses the rule type as ‘by-pin codes, an option to enter the Pincode will show up where the user can enter the destination Pincode for which the user wants to set the Sender address [Refer Image No:4.6]




  • Choose Pickup Warehouse: Choose a warehouse under the ‘Choose Pickup Warehouse’ dropdown, which will be set as a Sender warehouse that matches the rule i.e., if the orders with the destination Pincode/city/state/country match the rule type, for such orders, warehouse selected from ‘Choose Pickup Warehouse’ will be considered as the sender address [Refer Image No:4.7]

[The warehouse list under Pickup Warehouses will be displayed under the ‘Choose Pickup Warehouse’ drop-down]



  • Priority: In order to avoid conflict between the rules, add a Priority, check the ‘Activate Rule’ checkbox and click on the SAVE button [Refer Image No:4.8]



  • Scroll down the page the rule will be saved [Refer Image No:4.9]



HOW TO CREATE A SHIPMENT IN SCHEDULE FLOW

After setting the 3 rules go to the My Orders page select the order and click on the ‘SCHEDULE SHIPMENTS’ button [Refer Image No:4.10]



If the Shipment is created successfully then the orders will be moved to the SHIPPED ORDERS tab and also a SUCCESS message will be displayed when hovered on green indication [Refer Image No 4.11] and it will be logged under My Shipments page.



If the shipment is not created successfully then the orders will be displayed under the UNPROCESSED ORDERS tab and the reason for the failure will be displayed if hovered on the red indication [Refer Image No 4.12]
